Solace Asia

Solace Asia was created by philanthropist Datuk Seri Ghulam Sayeed and psychologist Dr. Prem Kumar Shanmugam. The duo saw the lack of substance abuse treatment centers in the region and made it their mission to offer individuals an ethical option in southeast Asia. Today, Solace Asia welcomes guests from all over the globe.

Solace Asia is a leading rehab center for addictions to alcohol and drug, sex, and gambling. The luxury rehab also works with clients suffering from eating disorders and chronic relapse.

Solace Asia opened its doors in 2014 and has been treating clients ever since with its one of a kind Solace Flower Model Therapy. Visitors to Solace Asia will be whisked away to their elegant property in Kuala Lumpur, or to the beautiful tropical island of Borneo and the city of Kota Kinabalu.

Residents will find Solace to be a five-star resort-live treatment center. The accommodation is first rate and guests will be able to recover from their addictions in beautiful, serene environments. As one would expect of a program of this stature, Solace offers a host of activities guests can partake in during their treatment program.

Guests at Solace are not put through humiliating treatment programs, isolation, or ‘tough love’. Rather the center provides its fellows with the chance to be human and to experience a comprehensive rehab program designed to reintegrate into normal life without dependency, addictions, and disorders.

What is a day like at Solace Asia?

Guests at Solace Asia undergo a 28-day residential program to end their various addictions and disorders. Residents at Solace can extend their stays to 60-and 90 days. Each guest is paired with counselors and therapists that work together to create an individualized treatment plan. Once a treatment plan is in place, residents can begin the recovery process.

Days are full of individual and group sessions based on CBT recovery methods. Solace offers guests a voluntary 12-step meeting in the evenings. However, Solace Asia does not force guests to participate in any 12-step recovery.

Residents have the option to participate in Solace Asia’s non-traditional recovery programs such as art therapy, music therapy, equine therapy, acupuncture, and hypnotherapy. The alternative methods are optional for guests seeking to add more to their stays. Residents can also enjoy a variety of excursions such as scuba diving, trekking, and paragliding.

Guests eat meals in three different dining areas. Six chefs are employed by the Solace Group, offering a variety of foods from western to eastern cuisines. Residents are not restricted on the food they can eat and have the chance to enjoy snacks and beverages throughout the day. A swimming pool and fitness center is also available to guests.
