The Daraknot Health Recovery Journey

For many individuals, beginning a journey into recovery from addiction can seem like a very steep hill to climb. Regardless of a person’s professional standing, background and wealth, they will feel unyielding and unrelenting fear, loneliness and trepidation.

The prospect of going into residential addiction treatment (more commonly referred to as ‘rehab’) will be daunting. Stopping a substance can cause withdrawal with severe physical and psychological symptoms of varying degrees. Depending on the substance and the amount used, this period can be dangerous and potentially life threatening.

Daraknot Health is renowned for its dedicated attention, precision, honesty and transparency in a warm and empathetic environment. It is impossible to recreate this atmosphere in a residential treatment facility which is why Daraknot Health have pioneered and championed the ‘at home’ model of addiction treatment.

What to Expect from Daraknot Health

Detox

Daraknot provides a highly professional and safe detox at home to support individuals in the first stages of recovery. A team led by Dr Howard Gluss will be at your side throughout the detox process, which can be physically and psychologically uncomfortable.

Daraknot Health detox at home was created to ease this pain and discomfort by employing leading-edge detox techniques in your own home, in comfortable and familiar surroundings. The detox process will be complete within seven to ten days, with clients then beginning a successful program of recovery using the Gluss Method®

Pre-Treatment

Under the expert supervision of Dr Howard Gluss, a team of experts all collaborate in professional harmony to help stabilize the individual. The aim of pre-treatment is to truly discover the core of a person, which in many occasions has been hidden by the effects of drug & alcohol addiction for many years. This is often a cathartic journey of self-discovery, and one which can be truly revelationary.

Healing

Continuing the journey of self-discovery the team of experts will guide a person in deepening their understanding of themselves, helping them to establish healthy relationships and create structures that will allow them to identify and deal with triggers. The Gluss Method® also works closely with clients to develop techniques to stay grounded during intense (and seemingly unmanageable) episodes of euphoric recall.

Daraknot Health is a truly bespoke and individual program, meaning that you have the undivided attention of your mental health team and the freedom to learn, grow, adapt and evolve without fear of shame, judgement or worry about evolving psychologically in a group setting.

Long Term Recovery

In a world full disconnection, the re-connection with self and loved ones doesn’t happen on its own. Dr Howard and the team will help you define how you want to connect; externally, internally and with the wider world.

Understanding The Gluss Method™

Dr Howard Gluss has developed his unique method of addiction treatment and recovery which has been very successful over a number of years. The Gluss Method focuses on the seven thriving principles required to create a ‘new’ normal way of excelling in sobriety. The seven thriving principles of the Gluss Method are Vision, Will, Mettle, Culpability, Creativity, Cadence and Faith.

The 7 Thriving Principles of the Gluss Method™

Principle #1: Vision – The Forest through the Trees

Vision is the ability and awareness to notice, comprehend and reflect on the concept of the world through which we travel. It is the foresight not to get buried down in our addictive mind. It is the ability to remember to look up. Our Vision will keep our eyes on the ball.

Principle #2: Will – Facing Your Resistance

Managing our resistance to grow in our sobriety and embrace success requires us to understand our unconscious desire to resist change. Intellectually we all want to mature and grow but emotional growth can be filled with anxiety and fear; so we resist. Developing a strong will is synonymous with discovering a life’s purpose. It then becomes our drive to fulfill our life purpose that gives us the strength to confront our internal resistance to change.

Principle #3 Mettle – The Development of Courage

In gaining, maintaining and flourishing in our sobriety, “courage” can be defined as our ability to stay true to our real self and not give in to self-destructive addictive desires. Like a child learning to walk each step, the development of courage requires us to take an insightful look into our lives if we are ever going to learn to stand up straight and be who we really are; not what others require us to be.

Principle #4: Culpability – Guilty Pleasures

Are we willing to take responsibility to fulfill our most intimate desires in our ongoing sober transformation or will we spend the rest of our lives blaming others? Will we use an excuse for not attaining our dreams or are we too concerned about the envy of others? Do we feel guilty in taking real enjoyment from our success? Does our guilt cause us to self-sabotage out of a deep desire and relapse in order not to offend or cause harm to others? Developing culpability means feeling good about ourselves despite the guilt we may be experiencing.

Principle #5: Creativity – The Good Accident

For most individual’s creative expression becomes an extension of their true self, not the false self they developed as an addict. Sharing a “true piece of themselves” may feel positive or traumatic in nature depending on their personal strength, their childhood, and their experience.

If early childhood experiences were traumatic, “sharing” may engender fears of traumatization, abandonment, or engulfment. It may reactivate feelings of humiliation that can lead to self-destructive behavior or relapse. Wholey, positive acceptance of “sharing” may empower a desire to feel whole integrated and validated.

Whatever the situation, “sharing” is taking a risk. It can either inflate or deflate a sense of self. Creating our “New Normal” rests on the cornerstone of our ability to “Share” ourselves.

Principle #6: Cadence – Rhythms of Success

When a mountain climber reaches a plateau, they rest for a while to rejuvenate themselves and calculate their next move. They know that if they push themselves too hard, they run the risk of an accident and destroying their ability to complete their mission.

To understand the rhythms of success in our sobriety means to understand our personal strengths and limitations in relationship to our desire to maintain our success. It is imperative that we constantly evaluate our position on the mountain, so we maintain our ability to stay balanced and sure footed during this trek through the pandemic.

Principle #7 Faith: Developing the Ultimate Principle

Transformations in sobriety requires that we understand both the conscious and unconscious forces that interact in our lives. Living powerfully should feel unpredictable, culminating in an unexpected journey. It should place our sense of being and purpose on the edge of our seats.

The ability to have faith in our choices and master the complexities of life experiences can make the difference between a successful and an unsuccessful career, relationship, sense of self and our survival.
