Cottonwood Tucson Overview

Cottonwood Tucson Rehab launched in the fall of 1987 and rapidly grew to become one of the most respected 12 Step facilities in the United States.

Cottonwood is primarily a 12-Step facility that can treat mood disorders, trauma, addiction, process addiction (gambling, sex, shopping), eating disorders, co-dependency and co-occurring mental health disorders.

As one of the more established 12 Step facilities in the United States Cottonwood Tucson has developed their treatment program in line with current trends, progress and psycho-therapeutic developments. Cottonwood Tucson’s intensive adult program includes a strong, solid basis for medical management, twelve-step recovery concepts, family participation, group therapy, nutritional advice and experience therapies.

Cottonwood was among one of the first American Rehab facilities to embrace Dual Diagnosis and have been pioneers in this field since the early 2000’s. The professional team at Cottonwood Rehab take an evidence based approach to treatment, and whilst they employ many holistic, psychiatric and psycho-therapeutic modalities, it really is group therapy and the 12-Steps that provide the foundational framework of their Program.

Cottonwood Tucson Cost

The scheduled fee for Cottonwood Tucson treatment is a very accessible $35,000 per person per month on an all inclusive basis. Cottonwood run a female young adult program alongside regular inpatient treatment with a commitment of just under $17,000 p.m.

Cottonwood Rehab is situated in the heavily cactus Arizona desert in 35 hectares of private land above Tucson. All rooms are semi-private with four beds each (for a total of 74 beds). While privacy isn’t a feature, every bed is queen-sized and all rooms have a work desk, an attached bathroom (with shower and double sinks), and dressers next to each bed.

Prior to full admission clients benefit from a comprehensive assessment including:

  • psychiatric assessment
  • addiction assessment
  • lifestyle and nutritional assessment
  • medical check-up

The rooms are understated, yet tastefully decorated with artwork on the walls of each room. Group therapy rooms are also functional, with circles of upholstered office chairs and simple carpets.

Meals include fresh seafood and meat, organic products, exotic rice and cereals, and on-site nutritionists have also contributed to ensuring recovery-friendly menus.

Breakfast can include omelets or steel oats, lunch ranges from hand-rolled sushi to various sautéed offerings, and dinner consists of brown rice, chicken breast with goat’s cheese, Asian roast beef, and other seasonal faire.

Worlds Best Rehab Summary of Cottonwood Rehab

The Cottonwood Recovery experts have a deep understanding of the developing brain and how addiction and disorders can affect its ability to create a satisfied and confident mood.

Individual treatment planning enables an effective treatment of drug addiction and alcoholism as well as the treatment of simultaneously occurring disorders. Of particular expertise is dual diagnosis.

All programs at Cottonwood begin with a thorough medical and psychological assessment and bio-psycho-social screening. Unlike many other centers in the United States, on-site medical detoxification is available and every patient is cared for by a doctor, psychiatrist and Primary Therapist.

Is Cottonwood Tucson Religious?

While religion itself is not emphasized, Cottonwood emphasizes spirituality. The facility has a 12-step prayer walk that starts with the serenity prayer and has stations for every step (so that residents can pause to think).

Cottonwood Recovery Schedule

A typical day in Cottonwood starts at 7 a.m. and then between 8:30 a.m. there is morning meditation, yoga and breakfast. This is followed by “barn time”, during which clients can conduct therapy sessions for horses.
